Disney Villains: More MADAME MEDUSA, Please!

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Teal! Enjoy the ride as we share our individual picks as to which villain should have a bigger presence in the parks.

My vote for most underrated villain is Madame Medusa, the antagonist in Disney’s 1977 film, The Rescuers!

Medusa is a wonderful villain – she is self-centered, abusive and downright mean!  She reminds me a lot of Cruella DeVille. For some reason, however, Cruella is well-represented at the Disney Parks (particularly at Halloween-time), while Medusa is snubbed. Medusa is far more wicked than Cruella, in my opinion! She doesn’t kidnap puppies – she kidnaps a child and forces her into a precariously dangerous situation in an attempt to locate a piece of hidden pirate treasure – a humongous diamond known as the Devil’s Eye! 

Once she gets the jewel she double-crosses her bumbling henchman, Snoops, and attempts to keep the booty for herself -- and steals a little girl's teddy bear in the process!  Oh, she is “a bad ‘un!”

Let’s bring Madame Medusa to the Disney Parks – her character would make for a hilarious meet-and-greet!
